it was stated today..

 He adamantly refused, stating
>he doesn't agree with babies ever nursing more frequently than every 3 -
>4 hours as they spit up too much! He stated his staff provides the bf
>info he wants parents to follow and they don't need any education!
>Next, I went to the chief of peds and asked for his help in reviewing
>the AAP guidlines in the next ped meeting and encouraging them. He will
>do this but states that in the office, a doctor is "king" and he has no
>say over what is done.

I think that in this day and age of managed care, and of legal liability,
that no one can afford to delude themselves by assuming the role of king or
queen. For those health care professionals who do not practice according to
the standards of care of their profession, this is grounds for a malpractice
suit, I believe. Reminds me of those who adamantly refused to wash their
hands between births, in*sist*ing that there was no such thing as bacterial
contamination. Oh brother.

I would suggest that perhaps this physician may, at some point, realize that
he is losing business due to his attitude, (perhaps a colleague of his can
be persuaded to speak to him? Point him in the direction of the Academy of
BF Medicine?)..sometimes it takes a suit to bring a person to his/her senses.

And then of course, there is always a gift copy of BF : A Guide for the
Medical Profession. Makes a nice holiday gift...for the man who HAS (read
NEEDS) everything. SHall we take up a collection and MAIL HIM ONE?

Feeling generous. (HA!)
