As far as giving oil to babies to treat constipation,  are they actually constipated? Or do you think this is an educational issue? I have to say I don't think I've ever seen an exclusively breastfed baby be truly constipated.  At about 6 weeks many are stooling less frequently,  but that is normal as long as their stools are loose, they are fine. The record I've seen is 10 days between stools. I wonder if these babies are really constipated or the moms are just misunderstanding that the baby doesn't need to go every day? Are these cases of constipation when baby was supplemented with formula? I would also say that I would agree that giving solids, juice, water,  formula, etc would mean baby is not exclusively breastfed, for drops for gas or other medications is the USA we normally consider the baby to still be exclusively breastfed.
