Chanita,
I like your explanation of the inclination toward *failure* when using the
word *try*.  I make every effort to substitute the word *practice*.  It seems
to help.  So instead of saying:
Try the cradle hold
Try nursing more often
Try to lie down to nurse

I say:
Practice the cradle hold
Practice nursing often
Practice lying down to nurse

That seems to impart a feeling that breastfeeding is a process, not an event.
 The word *try* does imply failure. Thanks for helping me clarify my thoughts
on this.
