Check the ILCA web site for the current Standards of Practice.

Subject: Standards of Care for Breastfeeding

Terminology being as variable as it is, there probably are published
standards of care under different terms. I immediately went to my bookshelf and pulled
the "AWHONN (Association of Women's Health, Obstetric and Neonatal Nurses"
most current information. Evidence-based Clinical Practice Guideline on
Breastfeeding Support: prenatal care through the first year. I would also imagine that
Joint Commission (JCAHO) has some "standards of care" for breastfeeding. Also
the American Academy of Pediatrics / American College of Obstetricians &
Gynecologists (1997). Guidelines for Perinatal Care (5th ed) and the National
Guideline Clearinghouse (1999). Evidence-based Guidelines for Breastfeeding
Management During the First 14 days which is the document ILCA uses as well.
These documents are extremely helpfu and may be what you are looking for.

In reference to the Mead Johnson question, our rep holds "insevices" on
various topics seemingly spontaneously (of course I never hear about them until
they are happening!) but last fall sponsored a seminar on Bereavement that
offered some kind of CEUs. To my dismay, people came in on their day off to attend
this full day program (with free lunch of course) but won't attend a 1/2
inservice on breastfeeding. Sigh....even when I bring donuts, they have an excuse.
