Dear Cynthia, Our family have been fans of L-lysine since I first saw an
article in the 1979 issue of Parade Magazine. We are subject to Herpes
Simplex 1 and it's just the best treatment we've ever found. It also helps
varicella, shingles and Herpes 2. There were several articles in Saturday
Evening Post over the years too. I copy them and give them out to patients!

L-Lysine is a naturally occuring amino acid found in chicken, fish, beef,
milk (yes, human milk too!), mung beans and sprouts, brewer's yeast,
soybeans and egg.

Herpes grows well when it has plenty of Arginine. (Found in nuts, cocoa,
peanuts, coconut, flour, rice, oatmeal, raisins, sunflower seeds.) L-Lysine
inhibits the growth of Herpes. So a diet high in L-Lysine helps
prevent/control herpes. And a diet high in arginine can trigger herpes
attacks. We have found if you are eating something high arginine it helps
to pop an L-Lysine or two to balance or conteract the arginine effect. (
Like our favorite Chinese Chicken dish with almonds)

Anyway my daughters have nursed 7 babies between them and no one ever had a
problem with the L-Lysine. That's our study of 7 :-) If you want a copy of
a 1981 article from Sat Eve Post with some ref by Dr. Arthur Norins send me
your snail mail address. Sincerely, Pat, who has overdosed on turkey :-)
