   this subject was covered rather extensively last week or so but ....

            the procedures are different in many ways. yes they are done
differently, they are also done at different times in the infants life. a
bris is done on the 8th day of life.
if the infant is not well it will be put off....the natural clotting factor
is in effect at this time.  the ceremony is done in the home ( usually) the
infant is with mom until just before the procedure and immediately after is
back in her arms and they usually go off to another room to nurse.  often,
infant is given a 2x2 of wine to suck during the procedure.

             hospital circs are procedurally different, done just prior to
disc. and subject to all the delays and medicalization of a hospital
procedure... i know of no instances of mom or dad being there or infant only
brienfly being out of arms.
