First, let me introduce myself, I have been lurking for quite some time. My
name
is Beth Sherron, I currently live in Durham,N.C. and work at Duke University
Hospital.
I have been working with breastfeeding mothers and babies for over 26 years,
first
as a LLLL and for the past almost 14 years as an IBCLC (some private practice
and
now in the hospital). Married 33 years,6 daughters,5 grandchildren. That is
putting it
all in a nutshell. In response to Kimberly R/T PTL and engorgement. I have
seen
this on several occasions. The first thought is that if she was flooded with IV
fluids
in order to stop PTL she could have had a fluid shift. What do her hands and
feet
look like? Second, could she have had a partial abruption? Sometimes this is
just enough to cause a hormone drop and thus a rise in prolactin and oxytocin.
I have enjoyed the spirited exchanges and look forward to reading my digest
every day. I almost always learn something new or perhaps a soapbox I need
to get back on. Thanks!
Beth Sherron
