Please rest assured my friend is not prescribing nipple shields at all -
she is simply trying to help women who's babies are already addicted to
them to wean them off. Many women in my area are recommended to use
nipple shields for sore nipples by well-meaning midwives and Health
Visitors. This is not a situation any of us in LLL or NCT are happy
about, but what can we do?

Latex nipple shields are just easier to wean off than silicone ones,
which are tricky to trim without leaving a sharp edge. Thanks for
comments.
