Hi,

We have 4 Amby hammocks in the midwifery unit that I work in Melbourne
Australia and yes the new borns don't have enough weight to make them
move vigorously but they do seem to give the babes a sense of containment.
Some mums will take them into their rooms or sometimes they will be used
when mum just needs an hour break in our nursery.Staff members who go
past just give them a jiggle They are always used with the idea mums and
babes are ideally together and never used to stretch feeds or instead of
feeding. Our clients tend to go home on day 5 or 6 so they are in hospital on
day 3 when babes are often fussy and feeding frequently. We also have slings
for staff and mothers to use. The hammocks are just another possible tool.
There are also baby hire business that hire them out at a very reasonable cost.
