Since the Girl Scouts know I work with breastfeeding they thought I was just
the right person to ask for help. I didn't know what they needed. A talk
about breastmilk for the older girls working on their 'Caring for Children'
badge? A talk about nurtrition? Infant development? Maybe the science fair
experiment with vinegar showing the natural superiority of breastmilk?
Breast development for preteens? I called them back. They're working on a
craft project dipping candles. Apparently, they felt I was "just the right
person" to come up with empty formula cans!!! The tall ready-to-feed cans
are perfect for dipping candles!

I took my 8-year-old daughter to her new pediatrician (third insurance
company of the year) with her usual ear infection. She's had them since she
was weeks old. Yes, she was fully breastfed. Chronic ear infections and
asthma. Go figure. Never a drop of formula. Weaned at four years.
Anyway...the nurse came in and recognized my name from all the fliers and
posters in the clinic promoting my breastfeeding talk for expectant parents.
"Oh, you're the breastfeeding lady, aren't you? Well, I raised all my
children on out-of-date formula and they're all fine." AAGH!

Off to Kansas City!!
