Hi All,
Well, an update on my baby we thought had CP - the one with the really
disorganized suck, aspirations, etc.

Baby had an MRI Tuesday. The Neuro says it isn't CP - it is delayed
maturation of one part of the brain. This one area is about 2 months behind
making this little one (who is 11 1/2 wks) more of a newborn. I have never
heard of this. Mom will get more details today after the EEG and I think
another test - but needless to say we are all very happy it isn't Cerebral
Palsy. Neuro says that baby will be fine - just delayed in development for
a while.

This is all the info I have at the moment - we are still concerned about
aspirations as yesterdays swallow study showed low tone issues resulting in
aspiration. There appears to be some refluxing as well.

So, now I am really out of my league here - mom (a ped RN) also has never
heard of delayed maturation - where is the best place to research this?
Baby will stay in contact with feeding specialists and mom will be
continuing to breastfeed per neuro (and her own smarts!). Mom says I am not
out of this yet! She wants me in the middle of this a much as possible
which is fine with me - we are both learning A LOT. Mom and Dad, btw, are
real troopers. I have so much respect for them and how they are handling
all this...Wow!

Looking forward to more info...

Warmly,
Jaye
