Thanks for the feed back so far.
Re Latch : I did discuss the latch with her. The thing that threw me on that
is that she had exactly the same pain for one hour after pumping. Although
she mainly used the ISIS pump she had also used the Lactina in hospital but
couldn't tolerate it even on the lowest setting. I have checked her breasts.
She does not have large nipples so it is not linked to the funnel size or
the insert on the ISIS pump. She has a small scar on the upper outer
quadrant of the right breast which is from removal of a small cyst  6 years
ago other wise her breasts look excellent for breastfeeding - not too large,
small to average size protractile nipple. As a Muslim she would be aiming to
breastfeed for at least 2 years & I think the pain must have been quite
severe for her to give up after 3-4 weeks with the first baby.
