The 8-4-00 strip perpetuates a myth in every frame!

1. Only young babies nurse.
2. Bovine milk is best suited for human adults and
older children.
3. Toddlers shouldn’t nurse.
4. It hurts to breastfeed babies and children with
teeth.

Topping it off is the grandmother looking like the
heavy!  Actually, I get a lot of calls from
grandmothers & they provide extraordinary support for
their daughters & daughters-in-law.  Surprisingly, not
all of them nursed their own children but they want to
support nursing grandbabies.  Sometimes they show up
at my door, daughter, baby, & checkbook in tow!  (I
love them!  I hope to be one some day!)  Only once do
I recall a well-intentioned but confused grandma (she
kept grilling steaks for her horrified vegan daughter
and was convinced there would be no milk without
steaks, but I digress).  And many a mom has called me
only because grandma is poking her with a broom...

Ironically the 8-3-00 strip had great possibilities
and stands on its own!  Mothers and children in my
“extended” nursing group would consider that child to
be on the verge of a politically correct breakthrough!

The 3-17-01 strip would be of particular interest to
tandem nursing moms.  It appears that  child has
finally had that breakthrough!  I kinda like how he
keeps protesting nonviolently as the authorities drag
him away ...  Again, out of the mouths of babes ...
