Dear Friends:
Thank you Laurie, and Catherine and Ann, and all for such fine
responses and support.
The couple in question are very much interested in complementary
therapies. They chose a midwife, and a lovely birth center. I taught their
childbirth classes.
For them, this surprise cesarean section have stunned them into
accepting whatever the NICU staff says. Especially when that staff is telling them
all the awful things that might happen if this big boy crashes, and gets
primary pulmonary hypertension or something else that is awful.
It is difficult, maybe even impossible to expect a mother to be
proactive in light of different experts saying different things. I have contacted
their care provider, and my director and am hoping to open some minds at a
higher level, so babies will have more of a chance to breastfeed in the NICU.
This is the same NICU where a nurse told me that s2s is bad for premies,
because of their unstability.
    Talk about another jaw-dropping moment!
    warmly,
