Dear Mary,

I am a hospital based LC with a nursing background so gloves have been drilled into my head.  However, I follow the same basic rules as you do concerning the wearing of gloves in instances where contact with broken skin is possible but do not wear them routinely.  I agree with you about the advantage of skin to skin touch, both in being conducive to assessing the breast and enhancing the consult.
