Has anyone come across this type of breast pain before?

Mum with 7 month old baby. All well with feeding until 4 weeks ago. Now
the feeds are still pain-free, then, 30 minutes after the feed has
finished she gets hot stabbing pains 'like needles' starting in the
nipple and going deep into the breast. This lasts 2 hours then fades.

No history of thrush in either Mother or baby, no antibiotics.

The timing is wrong for thrush surely? Too late also for pain caused by
prolactin levels. Weather too hot (yes, even in the UK!) for vasospasm,
nipples do not blanch.

Any ideas?
