Hi
We have not seen ultrasound as a primary treatment for breast infections -
it would be best if mothers were well enough informed so that the majority
of women did not allow themselves to ignore early warning signs of breast
infection. Then for those who still develop infections to be encouraged to
rest and feed their way through it, resorting to antibiotic treatment only
if their symptoms worsened. However you have now given us something else to
think about! We do not know if this might be an appropriate treatment at the
point where the only other alternative is a course of antibiotics, which
many women with thrush histories have good cause to avoid if possible. The
only journals we are aware of which have published anything on this topic
are the two we mentioned in our first post on this subject.
