Thank you all for your thoughtful replies on and offline in regards to my
original thread. I just wanted to clarify that I fully recognize that as
clinicians, we may choose a variety of ways in which to use certain feeding
devices and that "clinical creativity" is exactly what some dyads need to
get through their challenges. I certainly use Haberman bottles when needed
and evaluate each dyad case by case. However what I was referring to in my
original post was a disturbing trend of misusing/misunderstanding Haberman
bottles that I am seeing in my area where the basis of choosing the device
makes no sense for the particular dyad and the accompanying
messages/instructions for use are not accurate. I am really curious about
the "Baby Whisper" book reference someone mentioned. I will try to scout out
the book and see if indeed the book references the Haberman. If so, that
would explain a lot! Again, thank you all for your thoughtful dialog
regarding this topic!
