You might start with the sources cited by the ACOG in it's own Protocol statement. It claims that (paraphrasing as you did, below) once milk supply is well established, it will not be affected by the use of OCPs at 4-6 weeks postpartum.
I have had polite discussions with an OB about this. He is firm in his adherence to the ACOG Protocol. He refused to read info from the NLM's Toxnet (LactMed) on OCPs or estrogen.
He made the (outrageous, IMO) statement that the NLM is too heavily influenced by commercial entities and that ACOG is absolutely NOT under commercial influence. Therefore ACOG is more credible.
So many OBs in my hosp continue to prescribe OCPs (the dual hormone version) for any mom who is willing to take them.
I haven't had the time to do this same research I am recommending to you. It's another thing on my To Do List.

Does anyone have any evidence (research based articles) that I can share with an OB who asked me about use of estrogen in women who have already established a milk supply? At least he asked, right? I am looking for anything written on the subject of combined oral contraceptives and breastfeeding.
Thanks,
