With all due respect; many midwives, this one included, believe that
pelvimetry is essentially a myth. Pelvises GIVE if women are allowed to
carry their babies to term (when they go into labor on their own) and if
they are allowed to assume positions conducive to the opening of the
pelvis. In my work as a doula I have seen many women told that their was
no way they could birth more than a seven pound baby.... turn around and
birth a 9 pounder! I would suggest that if a practitioner is willing to
do pelvimetry, especially before 37 weeks or so, that practitioner also
has a high C/S rate.
