I've been unable to get help for this mom - The Endocrinologist said he
"doesn't 'do' breastfeeding women" and the OB tells her that she can only
prescribe bromocriptine "which puts you at risk for 25% chance of having
cerebral hemorrhage. The mom, now desperate and pumping 8 ounces from each
breast every hour, with reddened breasts with varicose-like blood vessels,
said she didn't care, she needs some rest and took the prescription to the
pharmacy - where the pharmacist quoted the SAME dire percentage of risk.
Now, I don't know what the true risk of this is, but I doubt very much that
it was ever nearly that high...

Baby is now drinking (2 weeks old) over 4 ounces of her milk every 1 1/2
hours, but I'm concerned that this milk appears very low in calories and
she is stooling very watery, gassy stools. Today she developed a
temperature of 100.2 (38c) rectal temperature.

The local Family Practice physician does not believe there is any problem -
I am concerned also as she has had NO lochia ( bleeding) since day 5.

Yesterday she had 5 mg. bromocriptine. Today she is dizzy and having
chills - side effect of the meds, or possible breast infection? Just
keeping you up to date...
