When baby is slow to br or refuses on day 3, I've explained to moms for
years that "the landscape changed", reassure her that with a little help
baby will get over this, express a little, soften up areola if possible.  We
need to remember that these are incredibly smart little ones.  They
habituate very easily to a new experience (that's why one bottle seems to
mess some of them up so profoundly).  The trick is-work with the baby, work
with the breast, don't reach for a bottle!  Sincerely, Pat in SNJ
