Dear Friends:

While several people have been kind enough to reply to my query privately, I
am still seeking help for women that I know are having difficulty
promoting and supporting breastfeeding because they work in dangerous
situations, where they've been threatened (even at knife-point), where
gunfire is a random yet continual background noise and where they want to
help mothers and babies yet are fearful themselves.

I imagine that in the vast world of LACTNET, there are those who have
stories and wisdom gathered from the battlefield. I've seen a picture of new
mothers in a hospital nursery, learning from a uniformed solidier how to put
their babies inside a zipped container to protect them in the case of
chemical warfare. What a thing to incorporate into mothering!

Please continue to send tips, stories and suggestions; your wisdom is
desparately needed. I am stopped dead in my tracks to be reporting from some
neighborhoods in the 5th largest city in the USA.
