I've read through the information on this Web Site and have sent the Dr. a
question about family beds (whether it is a "no no" in his system).  I'd be
interested in anyone who has actually seen this video and their opinion of
it.  He does recommend spacing the intervals out of feeding and says even
breastfeeding babies can sleep 10-11 hours by 2 months.  I'm sure SOME can
and do.  But he says that in his practice, the happiest, healthiest, most
contented ones do.  That concerns me, because if he doesn't give
information about how to know if a baby is getting enough, mothers of
babies who CAN"T get enough during the day may have problems with their
babies gaining well. However, he is against the cry-it-out methods and that
makes me feel positively toward his philosophy.

I guess I'm WANTING it to be a good video, having had two of my three as
terrible sleepers.  So I can relate to mothers who come to me begging for
advice on getting the baby to sleep better because they're so exhausted.  I
don't have any great advice for them.  Just a lot of sympathy and assurance
that it will end some day. I recommend Sears' Nighttime Parenting book,
although it comforted me and gave me some suggestions and a lot of support-
it didn't help my babies sleep any better.  And a LLL leader once said to
me (when I was so exhausted with baby #3 being up all night) "Nobody ever
died from lack of sleep."  I said "That may be true but I've had several
near car wrecks with all three kids in the car with me because I'm so
out-of-it from sleep deprivation."  So there does come a point when in some
situations something needs to be done!  Is this video the answer?  Anyone
have any better ones that don't cause problems with breastfeeding?

Maybe specific opinions about this video need to be by private e-mail since
it is a product that's being sold?  General sleep suggestions could stay on
Lactnet.
