Good for this mother of twins (MOT)! Glad one baby is getting the hang of BF
-- that's pretty darn good if still 7 weeks preterm! But please don't count
the other baby out - many preterm babies have gotten beyond an apparent
nipple "preference," (which I don't exactly agree is what is happening -
more likely it is more flow-rate response).

However, few babies 7 weeks preterm have the endurance to do a good job in
removing enough milk to really "tell" mom's breasts how much milk to make.
(This in turn affects mom's milk production.) I hope this MOT is manually
expressing and/or mechanically pumping at least 8x/24 hr. Many MOT find
mechanical expression with a good rental-type breast pump results in making
more milk sooner.

It's not clear what this MOT's underlying health condition might be.
Although some hormonal issues related to infertility may affect lactation,
others do not. Hormones associated with becoming and maintaining pregnancy
are not necessarily the ones associated with lactation. However, if milk is
not being removed often enough and thoroughly enough, low production will
occur!

Re: donated EBM -- you may try searching Eats on Feets and HM4HB and reading
their info.

All the best to this mother -- please tell her not to give up! Many MOT have
come from "behind" to nurse their multiples!

K
