Have just finished a Lactnet catch-up marathon!

Re recent querires about the International Code. INFACT Canada carries a
number of publications on the Code.

Protecting Infant Health - A Health Worker's Guide to the Code is an
excellent publication that contains not only the full text of the Code and
subsequent resolutions, but clear non-legalese explanations of many of the
clauses including why they were included and how they are violated and
circumvented. It sells for $6 (plus shipping and Cdn taxes)

The Code Handbook, by Ellen J. Sokol, published by IBFAN in collaboration
with the International Code Documentation Centre, is much more detailed. It
is 361 pages, designed to be an aid to governments to develop measures to
implement the International Code. It includes history, background,
marketing, scope, promotion to the public, model laws, and appendices
including national measures in individual countries. It costs $65 (plus
shipping and Cdn taxes).

One reason for being more behind than usual on Lactnet has been the recent
news conference held by INFACT Canada on the release of the IBFAN report,
Breaking the Rules. This report surveys Code compliance in 39 countries and
documents violations. At present INFACT has only limited copies available
but more are expected soon. If there is interest I will post the IBFAN news
release.

Coverage has been excellent - a CP story was circulation across Canada, and
Elisabeth Sterken (INFACT's national director) gave a wonderful interview on
CBC's As it Happens, also aired on National Public Radio. Elisabeth and
Jack Newman (INFACT's chairperson) appeared on Doctor on Call (mentioned
previously by Janet Van den Berg) and Ontario Lactnuts might want to check
out Michele Landsberg's column on page 2 of today's Toronto Star.
