I do not recommend Avent anymore because I see too many babies "tip 
sucking" on these bottles. I agree that preemies may not remove milk 
well on those. The flow is fast also.

I like the old fashioned clear silicone nipples that fit onto a standard 
bottle but I can not find the name brands anymore. I can only find the 
Wal Mart or Target brands with odd shapes, and I do not know how fast or 
slow these are. Some of them have little bumps or nubs to "massage the 
gums" that I think must be horrible.

Really bad bottles are the green Soothies that are all the rage down 
here because the hospitals use the green pacifier. Baby has to keep her 
mouth tight on this bottle and then do not latch wide enough. Munchkins 
flow too fast in all three flows. We also have bottles with short tiny 
teats called something for premature babies. I think these are horrible, 
way too short, and I do have parents using them. Baby tips sucks because 
of the shape. It is really made for a hospitalized sized premature baby, 
not a discharged sized baby. They come in packets of 3 on the standard 
bottles, which I think are 8 ounce sized. Like a preemie needs 8 ounces!

The Breastbottle can work well if you put it together correctly. It is 
slower than some and causes less choking than hospital nipples (the only 
comparison I have done with one real baby). I did have trouble putting 
it together correctly myself.

For babies with problems, especially oral motor problems, the Haberman 
Feeder is excellent but expensive.

I am currently suggesting the following, Playtex with the bags but only 
the clear natural latch nipple in slow flow, Playtex Ventair wide in 
slow flow or the narrow slow flow for that baby in daycare who is 
chugging large quantities and needs a very slow flow nipple, Dr. Brown's 
either wide or narrow slow flow, and I often use an Evenflow purple and 
blue, triangular shaped bottle, in slow flow for preemies (has a wide 
base and short teat but a kind of fast flow). The Evenflow is kind of 
fast but my clients can not afford the Playtex bags and we'll use this 
bottle to get baby to learn to open wide at all feedings. With a 
preemie, it has a short enough teat that they can put their lips on the 
fat part.

Sometimes available on bottles in packages of three are the old Evenflow 
(I think) Comfi with a wide base and short teat that screws onto 
standard bottles. I used to use those for preemies before they changed 
them and softened them up. Now you can't find the replacement nipples in 
packages. But a baby with a small mouth did nicely on these as they 
could easily get to the fat part of the nipple. And it fit on the 
hospital bottles all my clients have.
