Dear friends,
My dear hubby has a low back hernia and needed physical therapy yesterday. I had to drive the car for him and so went in with him to chat with the therapist (a friend of ours). We talked ultrasound in his and my job. He told that in every therapeutic use he knew the better results come from higher watts/cm2. They used to use 1 to 1.5 W/cm2, but tend towards 1.5 to 2 now. There is little evidences based protocol here, they seem to have similar difficulties in using randomised double blind studies as we in lactation, but empiric evidence shows.
Now, does higher Watts mean more vibration? My physics is not that good. If so, I guess a vibrator might do the trick as well.

Warmly,
Gonneke, LLLL, IBCLC, MOM in wet and greyish southern Netherlands

Hello all,
Just wondering what do people understand about ultrasound treatment and mastits.
I have read in some places it is just the heat and vibration that really moves the blockage. If so does anyone know of a device we  that can use as L.C's that can have a similar therapeutic to the ultrasound.
Thanks
