Hello, my name is Janice Record and I am a new subscriber with a request
for information. I am an RN and IBCLC. We are currently revising our
policy on breastmilk storage and administration in our level 3 nursery. We
have heard that some hospitals are now having two nurses check the milk
before administration (similar to two RN's reading blood before
administration). What are some of you in NICU's doing to verify milk prior
to administration? I would also like to know if you allow parents to place
their milk in the freezer/refrigerator areas, or is it only accessible to
hospital personnel? I would appreciate any suggestions or feedback you can
offer. Thank you in advance. Janice Record RN, IBCLC Indiana
