No knowledge of same. This brings to mind the discussion a few days (or
longer) ago about adequate requirements for setting up as a Lactation
Consultant, alternative accreditations, the blatant use of the CLC term
for folks that have attended a course and passed a paper exam, and the
mis-use of these credentials to add clout to the real agenda (whatever
that may be). An example in point, at our hospital, a
dietician-pharmacy rep for a formula company recently attended and
passed a course. Now she has credentials to say she is "for"
breastfeeding, while she tells the nurses how insufficient breast milk
is and how moms need at the least, to take their product to have
"better" milk, and babies should get 1 bottle a day of their product to
make up for insufficiencies of breast milk (too little DHA, too little
iron, too little Vitamin D.) Apologies to God - but gee, He must have
been sleeping when He made woman - instead of man being asleep, cause
man has got it going on now! What do we need women for? We lactation
consultants who are professionals that are here to champion the cause of
mothers and babies better get it together and quit the in-fighting,
present a united front so that we will be respected and be PAID for what
we do. Grateful tears are wonderful, but they don't pay my rent!

Hello All, I just recieved an email from the Aviva Institute
anouncing a Lactation educator and an Lactation Counselor which are
offered on line. The instructor is Melinda Hoskins. The other classes
are related to birthing. http://avivainstitute.org/breastfeeding.htm
Is anyone knowledgeable about the lactation classes, the instructor or
the school? You may post me privately. Sincerely, Rachel Wahl RN IBCLC
