Susan Moxley has all my empathy re frustration with hospital
policy. All my efforts to try to effect change have been rebuffed
"because I am not a nurse" - told to my face. When I suggested
my concise and inexpensive basic bf manual to the nursing
supervisor, she wrote me a cold note that she could not recommend
it since it "did not comply with hospital policy". Hospital
policy includes bottles of formula and water, pacifiers, 5 feeds
a day, 5 min. nursing limit, etc. I have approached the head of
neonatology and offerred my input after he applied for Baby
Friendly status, and he didn't/doesn't answer my letters. I can't
start nursing school at this point in my life (besides, my 22
year old daughter is in the BSN program). Besides waiting for
Supervisor and Prof. to go on pension, anybody have suggestions?
Willing to try anything reasonable. Thanks, Judy Knopf
