This came across on medscape today. Nice suggestion that...even though
babies have increased levels of cotinine...breastfeeding is still
protective against respiratory disease.


BREASTFEEDING INCREASES COTININE LEVELS IN BABIES OF SMOKING MOTHERS
Among infants whose mothers smoke, urinary cotinine levels are, on
average,
five times higher in those who are breast-fed, according to a Canadian
study in the July issue of the Archives of Pediatrics and Adolescent
Medicine.
