Judy - agreed but must point out that the woman quoted in the article
is *not* a midwife and she has not been a midwife for (IIRC) about 25
years. She has set herself up as a breastfeeding expert and is often
on TV and radio, and in the papers, usually saying very unsupportive
and unhelpful and sometimes totally incorrect stuff about
breastfeeding. She has no qualifications in breastfeeding support and
is not a member of any of the organisations connected with it.

She has written a book and a DVD and has a consultancy in South West
London, which is sort of the socio-economic equivalent of Upper West
Side Manhattan, I think - very wealthy clientele, anyway, who do not
object to paying her high prices.

Obviously I will not be critical of specific aspects of her practice
but colleagues in her area know about her work, put it that way.

I'm sure she does help some mothers - she could not remain in business if not.

Yet her book contains many misleading and mystifying instructions and advice.

But you can imagine how irritating it is for people who *are*
qualified, who *are* supervised and supported by our organisations,
to see her face and name popping up everywhere!
