"It's my opinion that this pump should be used by moms who have solidly,
established
supplies (such as returning to work) ONLY !"
~~~ I would never counsel a mom to purchase this pump. If mom has already
purchased it, has a solid supply, and is going back to work, I would let
her know that I have seen  moms lose supply on this pump over time. This is
especially true when the pump is being used during the day, and baby feeds
very  little directly when mom is home. This is a common pattern when babies
are  extinction-trained into not asking for nourishment ( or they ask but mom
doesn't  respond) for 10-12 hours / 24 hour day. So if this mom is going to
use this  pump, I let her know that I have seen it work ok at times for
moms whose babies  nurse in the morning before they leave, in the evening when
they return, and at  least once or twice during the night. We also go over
the responsiveness of  the healthy nursing relationship, and that if her
supply begins to drop,  there are strategies to help restore it. This pump is a
big  disappointment for too many moms who spent a LOT of money on it. I
share  their anger when they find this out.
Peace,
Judy
