To clarify, as I think I was the one using that phrase - nor do I see
it as negative, not the way you describe it Judi, as part of a gentle
means to facilitate easier skin to skin and loving contact.

My gripe is when it is done in ways which are seen by the mother as
harsh and interventionist....I am sure you know the sort of thing I
mean, and how it can be done in a non-gentle and disturbing way : (

(In fact, I would say there is normally no reason for the mother not
to be the one taking off the clothes...the more she is the one 'doing
stuff' the better. )
