There were some things in your post that I agreed with, Angela, and in
general I think we should refrain from generalizing about others. HOWEVER, I
have some questions about the above statement.

I assume that the above sentence "resulting oral aversion related to
PROLONGING introduction of spoon feedings well into toddlerhood" was
actually meant to read "DELAYING introduction ... " (sorry , I cannot use
italics, so I have to shout)? If you are saying that by delaying spoon feeding
past a certain age babies will be orally averse to eating, I would love to see
the research on this. And my other question is, you actually see this in the
NICU where you work? If this is a NICU, and these poor children have been
kept away from spoons well into toddlerhood, why are they in the NICU and
not the PICU? Maybe I misread and you don't work in a NICU; not sure on that
one.
As someone who has run support groups for years, I believe I have heard that
many times before. It is actually on my list of "myths" about
breastfeeding/starting solids. Please correct me with some peer-reviewed
evidence.
Not meaning to be snippy,
Jamelle Lyons, IBCLC
