WHO/UNICEF states:  Breastfeeding can save the lives of over one million
babies who die every year from diarrhea and acute respiratory infections

"A risk/benefit analysis by the United States Institute of Environmental
Health Sciences estimated that for every 1,000 infants born in the U.S. each
year, four will die because they are not breastfed."   (This works out to
about 80,000 babies a year!)
