The other day I made a presentation to our Pediatric Regional Medical
Directors regarding lactation support through out our rather large medical
group. They all thought it was wonderful and would like to see support for
all our mothers. They liked the dollar savings that the company could make
but noted one flaw. Unless we can keep the moms nursing long term we will
probably not see the $ results from decreased infections etc. Does any one
have statistics on the # of moms Bf at 9 or more weeks. Most all of the
statistics I have seen are up to 6 weeks but they feel that after 6 weeks
when the mom has been back to work for several more weeks that the rates drop
drastically. I tend to disagree with them especially if we will be supporting
the mom with support groups, good pumping info etc. Any thoughts?
