The studies that were done on nipple shield and milk supply were done on TERM
infants whose mothers had established milk supplies.  I would expect to see a
decrease in milk if I put something between an effectively breastfeeding baby
and his mother!  Paula Meier's studies clearly show double the milk transfer
with preterm infants.
