Dear Friends:
Another point of view about milk storage has to do with public health,
which means making recommendations so safe that anyone can be safe using them.
This approach might 'dumb things down' in some people's eyes. However,
folks have a tendency to push limits. 65 mph is the speed limit; no problem to
go 68 or maybe even 70. 10 hours at room temperature has been identified as
safe, so maybe 12 or 15?
And if one baby is identified as ill because of faulty milk storage, we
all will feel the brunt of it.
There have been cases where women have injured babies because of what
they have used on their nipples to deal with soreness. These are staggering in
their level of ignorance. You read of them and wonder, "How could anyone in
their right mind have done such a thing." Never underestimate what the population
at large will do!
    warmly,
