I remember how excited I was to be in a LLL seminar with Chele Marmet back
in 1986...case studies, fascinating stuff - when my 2 yo toddler tripped and
fell in the back of the room. We got out of there FAST. I returned as soon
as I determined she hadn't broken anything, only to see her look very
deliberately and consideringly (not a word...) and she went to trip in the
same place again! We got out of there FAST! I did get to hear Chele again in
the early 90's.
That was the last time I tried meetings with that child.

My son happily came along to meetings until he went to kindergarten. When he
was vice president of his high school class he came home, disgusted, one
day. "I had to take over the class meeting today, (the president) has no
idea how to run a meeting." I asked him how HE knew how to run a meeting. He
look confused and said, "I think I've always known how to run a meeting."
(Probably so, he probably heard Robert's Rules of Order in the womb!)

At our VLCA conferences we have always welcomed nurslings and encourage
people to move forward if the baby/toddler noise (usually in the back)
bothers them. I think you can easily lose the knack of not hearing it! But
we've actually had more problems with adult cross-talk than with baby talk
over the years!

by their request!
