I like the Hollister pumps just fine except for one important caveat: The one-size-fits-all flanges. I've been assured that Hollister is ready to go with adaptable flange sizes to accommodate nipples that swell and then strangulate in the 24 or 25 mm diameter shields. But by currently limiting a hospital to only one pump brand, mothers with larger than average nipples are going to be provided with equipment that may cause nipple irritation and may impede or limit the amount of milk she can pump -- both critical issues if she is engorged or mastitic, or if she absolutely has to drive supply solely by pumping (as for a NICU baby who can't breastfeed yet). The point of equipment selection is that it always should be carefully tailored to individual, not institutional needs.
