I don't have Ruth Lawrence's book at home with me, but I know she wrote
about rusty colored milk. Ran into this when a NICU mom was pumping and
docs did not know what to do. They didn't feed the bloody milk to the
baby, but the problem disappeared very quickly and by the time the baby
was eating, mom's milk was fine for feeding. Lawrence states that the
baby could have the rusty milk, but the docs weren't convinced. They
were afraid that they would find blood in the stool and not know if it
was the milk, or another problem.
Hope this helps.
