I have had mothers use plain, unflavored olive oil to lubricate pump flanges when they start pumping for NICU babies when they go home and don't have lanolin. They have told me that that works very well and makes it much more comfortable. I have read that olive oil does have some antibacterial qualities.

Hi all -
Can anyone direct me to a solid article justifying the use of olive oil on
abraded nipples? This approach is increasingly popular locally. Is this
better, in your experience, than purified lanolin?
