I have had a couple of fathers tell me (during the consult where we
"discover" the tongue-tie and I explain options) that they themselves were
tongue-tied and at some point in childhood, had the frenulum rip and have a
freely moving tongue after that. It did not sound like a pleasant memory.
These fathers were highly motivated to have their infants' frenulums
clipped!

I've also had Spanish speaking patients mention that tongue-tie
particularly affected their older children's ability to make the Spanish
"rr" sound, which requires tongue-to-palate action, an interesting
observation, I thought.

Love learning from my patients,
Susan Lawrence in Berkeley
