Female pediatric resident: "Why are you STILL breastfeeding?!"
>
(Not that snappy, but I'd love to see what response a mom would get...)

>Mother: because I want to follow the current recommendations to breastfeed
until age two or beyond...

... because I want to reduce the risk of juvenille diabetes, meningitis,
childhood leukemia, crohns disease, celiac disease, asthma, allergies, ear
infections, breast cancer, ovarian cancer, cervical cancer, SIDS,....

... why would I NOT be still breastfeeding?

... why, do you think there is something wrong with breastfeeding?

... why, do you work for the formula companies?

... MY MY, WHY IN THE WORLD WOULD YOU ASK ME THAT?????

By the way, when my first child was 13 months old, I saw a new pediatrician
in the group I just started going to. She came in, and was flabergasted that
I was still breastfeeding. She barked at me that I had to stop immediately!
Didn't I know that my breast milk went bad after one year?

Hmmmm. I must not be able to see the expiration date on my breast - must be
printed on the underside....
