Pat Bull discussed issues of different creams and infections. I would like to add a point which I believe is seldom considered. Once opened, any tube or jar of cream (whether modified lanolin, vaseline, or whatever) is vulnerable to bacterial or fungal contamination. Thus buying a larger tube to save money (how frugal we are!) is false economy. Larger tubes are commonly saved for months, even till the next baby, and may have become contaminated during the first use. (Sometimes a tube will smell a bit"off", or at least different.)
The smallest tubes, to be discarded and not saved for later use, will lessen the risk of spread ing "bugs". There is merit is using the tiny sample-size tubes. Better still, of course, mother's milk is a great healer. I have seen some amazing healing if it is dabbed on frequently enough and air dried.
    Cheers,
