Hi, Phyllis!
BF legislation is a particular interest of mine--it's wonderful to watch what
is happening regarding BF at the state level. I think an exciting trend is
emerging. The NC House has just passed a BF bill that 1) requires the
encouragement and support of BF initiation & duration throughout the WIC
program (a lot is being done now; the bill would give current efforts more
substance and insure that such efforts continue in the future); and, 2)
require public sector employers to ecourage and support employees in
breastfeeding and maintaining BF after return to work (flexible time away
from worksite to pump; appropriate place to pump). I am waiting to see what
happens with the bill in the Senate.

This type of activity is being accomplished in several other states as well.
If you know of interesting legislation that has been accepted or proposed,
share it. We need to keep thinking of the next step.
