I wondered about this when I had my first child. I don't think its a gender
thing, I think it depends on experience. Most women breastfeed their second,
third, Breastfeeding.cometc., a little longer than the first. I know with my
first I was pretty much thinking a year was good enough and basically he was
weaned by then. He was a boy. My second was a girl and I was going to nurse
for up to 2 years and ended up nursing her for close to 6 years.

Gender did not come to mind in this decision
