Couple of small points on the WIC/bottle feeding in the hospital thing.
Why does the mother's breastfeeding status with WIC have any bearing on
what happens in the hospital? In what way would/do hospitals communicate
mom's breastfeeding status to WIC? Maybe newly delivered mothers need to
be advised by alert nursing staff that their breastfeeding status while
in hospital is private, protected health information. At least I think
it is...?
Second, why are nurses feeding well babies anyway? Wouldn't it be the
mother's job to give the baby a bottle? Aren't formula feeding mothers
entitled to that same respect?
And one more thought....maybe other people's daughters are far more
mature and enlightened than my own, but if I told 2000 people that one
of them had supernumerary nipples she would be really mad at me : )
